Which came first......

The cake or the card???? You tell me.

Ok...now brace yourself ladies....what I am about to show you may shock you.....only once that I can think of I have posted any pictures here that weren't Stampin' Up! related, but I am going to let another cat out of the bag.

Here it goes....this is your warning!

If the sight of sweet suger mixed to a buttercream consistancy that you can smell from the next room offends you...you might not want to read this post. If the use of a few retired Stampin' Up! stamps offends you, you might not want to read this post. (Here is where I might get you.....) If the tiny use of product that is not Stampin' Up! offends you, you might not want to read this post.

Now, mind you, this line of redneck-imitating jokes are just coming off the tips of my fingers as I type...I didn't rehearse this ahead of time. Maybe I can get a stand up job on a channel that is a cross between HGTV, Food Network and Comedy Central, huh? Or maybe I can stick to my daytime job of being a domestic engineer at my abode. (sounds impressive for a stay at home mom....makes me feel good!)

Are you saying to yourself....get on with it already!!!! Show me the pictures and explain what in the "H-E-double hockey sticks" you are talking about! ok....ok....give me a little time, bear with me...it is 5:30 in the morning! (***note to self...learn to stay in bed no matter what time you wake and your legs start to jump around....)

ok with all that being said....here is the run down.

Today is my Grandma's birthday get together. ( I hate to say party.....we really all get together and eat...eat...eat...and then when the table is cleared off we eat some more. So it is more of an eating fest in honor of her birthday rather than a party so to say.) So, anywhooo.....I was to make the cake. more background info here: I took a few classes (three courses, actually) last fall on cake decorating desperately trying to fill the creative void that quitting my hairdressing job of 12 years left...like I don't have enough other "irons in the fire...." right? ( I did tell you that I was an "engineer" didn't I?) But I really liked learning something new.

And being a papercrafter....I am going to make her card, right? So I'll show you the pictures and you can deside...which came first, the card or the cake? (please feel free to leave a comment below and let me know what you think.....)

The pictures are in no particular order....

Some close ups:

recipe: for the card...not the cake! lol!
stamps: flowers for a friend (retired), springtime stems (retired), sincere salutations
ink: regal rose, pretty in pink, perfect plum, mellow moss, white craft, barely banana marker, summer sun marker
card stock : regal rose, whisper white
accessories: colluzzle ctiing system, SU hobby and craft knife, cutting mat, stampin' dimensionals, white detail embossing powder, heat tool
Note: I just wanted to add....I cut my flower bouqets out with my new Stampin Up hobby and craft knife on the cutting mat....let me tell you - it was a lot easier to get around those little flowers and leaves with this cutting blade than with scissors! It took me a few minutes to get the hang of how much pressure to use when cutting..but when I did...look out! What a breeze!

Doesn't really matter which came first - since both are Fabulous! If I could learn to decorate cakes like you did - I'd take the course too! Not sure which I'd have more trouble with - paper cutting all that detail, or squeezing the icing bag lol

Nice job. Your Grandmother will be very pleased!

So where is the recipe for the cake??? ;-)

I love that you added the texture to the cake to mimic the card. I am going to say you made the card first!

Fab job on both.

What a thoughtful gift for your grandmother! I'm sure it will mean a lot to her! You'll have to take a picture of her, the cake and the card together!

I'm going to say the card came first....I don't know why. That's just the first thought that popped into my head. :)

They are both gorgeous!

Wonderful card and the cake looks absolutely yummy! I couldn't decorate the cake at all though. I think the cake came first.
