New Scoring Board Stamp Camp Project

LOL!!!

Yesterday when I photographed and edited the picture for today's post, I was singing a song in my head with the "fabric" substituted for the actual lyric....but it is early and I didn't write it down.  lol!  My sarcasm just comes to me, I guess I can't preplan it.  Would that make me a "stand up sarcastic blog poster????"  Probably not, even stand up comediens preplan, huh?  Oh well.....we will move on anyway.

I have been playing around with our new fabric line......oh how yummy it is!  I can't seem to get enough of the Deck the Halls collection.  How awesome would it be if it would expand with more coordinating fabrice that didn't leave us with the Holiday mini?????  Seriously - how awesome would that be???  I know, right???

Well, I have two fabric projects to share with you today.  A french style memo board and a little piece of wall art for the Holidays.

We will start with the memo board.

This was my sample board for a stamp camp I held a couple of weeks ago.  We made a glass jar with decor elements on it fro Halloween.  It was super cute and wayyyyy  super easy.  And then, we all made a memo board using Designer Fabric.  I took a bunch of the fabric to the camp and let everyone pick their own to make everyone's memo board personal.  We had a great time at the camp - the memo boards the girls did were awesome!  I have to say though when I asked my hubby for his staple gun for a Stampin' Up! class.....he did look at me like "are you serious.....a staple gun for stamping?"  And I think the girls that were at the camp got the same reaction from their hubbies.  ( I had them bring a staple gun if they had one to help with time )

Oh sorry.....I got really off track, huh?  And to think.....I haven't even had my diet Coke or Coke Zero yet this morning.  Maybe lack of caffiene makes me meander through my thoughts......or maybe caffeine makes it worse?  Hmmmmm.......  There I go again!

Anyway - my memo board was made with the Cherry Cobbler fabric from Deck the Halls.  I told you a while back that Cherry Cobbler was my favorite red we have .....didn't you remember?  So - when Stampin' Up! gave us a fabric that was cherry cobbler and very vanilla - it was meant to be. 

The ribbon pattern was made with the new Cherry Cobbler 1/2 " Seam Binding.  I gotta say - I {luv} this stuff!  It is so smooth and flexible and soft.....do you get the picture?  lol!  Where the binding intersected, to accent the quilted look of the memo board, I placed antique brads.  I gathered the seam binding through the prongs and put them throught the entire board to pull the fabric down a bit.  Wanna see?

You like?  I do!

Oh boy.....and I said there were two projects to share today.  The second one is a wall hanging I made for the Holidays coming up.  I gotta say.....I think this is really cute.  Boy, I am full of myself this morning, uh?  lol!  Without further delay......here it is:

I told you it was adorable....WHAT?....You didn't believe me?  After all this time, you still don't trust me?  That hurts.  Really hurts......

The background is just an ordinary piece of muslin that I sandwiched with another piece of muslin with quilt batting - bamboo quilt batting - ever hear of it?  Made me feel really "green" since I was using it on a tree project.  lol!  I then machine quilted it at an angle.  It isn't perfect...please don't measure down to the 1/16th of an inch.....I didn't care that it wasn't perfect, to be honest, it is to look "shabby - country - cute"  That is a professional decorating term, right?  lol!!

The tree pieces were cut with my pennant die (the smaller pennant) and big shot.  Do you give yor big shot massages weekly?  You should - it make sit more relaxed to pump out great projects like this :)  Each "pennant" is three layers - a piece of muslin and then a piece of wool felt and topped off with a piece of fabric from Deck the Halls.  I adhered the tree down onto the background and then added a trunk.

The tree trunk is simply a piece of wool felt cut with the new Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die in the Holiday Mini.  I stitched it right to the background piece very haphazardly with two colors of thread to kind of simulate tree bark.....how did I do?

After I had the tree, tree trunk and background all sewn together - I snipped all of the scallops and throught that baby in the washer and dried it in high heat to get the normal shrinkage you get with 100% cotton fabric in high heat.  Oh and the adorable fraying too!!  I was looking for that!

No tree is complete without decorationg, right?  Right....that is what I thought, so I adorned my tree with Deck the Halls Big Designer Buttons.  I tied bow with the 1/8th inch very vanill tafftea ribbon through the buttons before adhering them to the tree.  See??

And a tree topper......I must admit, I wanted to use the star die with some mustardy colored felt....but my felt color that I had just didn't mesh well with my tree....so I pulled out soem very vanilla taffeta ribbon and made a bow that I then acented with more 1/8th inch very vanilla taffeta and another big button.  Take a look at that:

You like?  I was very please with this tree.

Sneaky Peeky coming your way!!

Stamp Camp Sneeky Peeky!!!

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a card that evolved through a couple of challenges. First, I wanted to get working on my samples for the All Occasion Stamp Camp on the 29th of January. Second, I wanted to use the mojo monday sketch for the week. And last, I wanted to use today's color challenge - Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Rich Razzleberry. One of the cards I wanted to do for the camp was a feminine birthday....so this was all coming together :)

It is very hard to see in the picture (argh!!) but the scallop circle and satin ribbon are chocolate chip. This is the new satin ribbon in the occasions mini - YUMMO!!!!

just had to use mini seed beads for the cherries.....are they sweet??

Blogger's Challenge - week 76

Hi All!

I have a really quick post this morning.

This week we were to do a color challenge. The colors were tangerine tango, bashful blue, kiwi kiss, close to cocoa and whisper white. Perfect colors for frosty day designer series papers!!!

The first thing we made at my last giftable stamp camp. It is a box made sort of like a pizza box with the top note die used for the lid and base! These were so fun to make! The sentiment stamp is from the country living set, only available until December 31st....you won't want to miss out on this one!

My next thing in these colors is a home made bow. I have been working on holiday packaging and I whipped this up last night. It is from the frosty days designer series papers.

Sorry I have been gone for so long! I sure missed being here! Finally got the computer fixed...and then headed into a busy weekend. Speaking of weekends....I had a stamp camp on Sunday, which was a blast! But that isn't why I'm here. I came to show you the door prize.....

Oh my.....Where does my time go????

Well.....I have been so busy for well over a month now...as I am sure the rest of you have been too! I'm sure it isn't just me that summer takes a toll on! I have a stamp camp on Sunday so this week...I am prepping for that when I can sneak off for a minute! I do have my samples all worked out...that is a life saver, let me tell you! however...Let the cutting begin!!!!

So, today I have prepped one card and bagged it up for the "camper's" packets when they arrive. And I thought you might enjoy the sneak peek of what we are going to do.......

Is that some blingy hardware over there?????? OH MY!!!!! I can't get enough! I can't wait for the "camper's" to see this!

We have a winner...Karen!

Poor Karen......she takes so much harassment for being the lucky winner of door prizes at a lot of stamp camps. She has won some really cool things...if I can say so myself. Well....Sunday's Scrapbook Purse Camp was no different. Wanna see what she won?????? I think it is the cutest!

A purse/tote made from two Carousel Notes (page 7 in the Occasions Mini Catalog) and one of their envelopes! I made a bag of punched shapes using the Afternoon Tea paper and some Hodgepodge Hardware in Antique Brass.

The Carousel Notes were stamped with my newest love...Twill Background...in soft sky. I stamped the large flower from the pretties kit with polka dot background in chocolate chip ink. The flower was held on with a build a brad...love 'em! The handles were the smooth and silky chocolate chip satin ribbon from theater originals ribbon. And the handle holes were adorned with jumbo eyelets! Can you imagine....tons of my favorites on one little project!!! whooohoooo!!!!1

A Door Prize for.........

This is a late congrats to Cindy for winning the door prize at my Birthday Stamp Camp on March 9th. I have to be quick today...I hear the little one awake upstairs. Do you think she has a camera on me? When I sit down to do something....it's like she knows! It's freeky, I tell ya!

Any way.....I included a bit of chocolate in case the winner needed a little boost while stamping away! Here it is:

I thought it was just darling! But all of you know how much I LOVE my scallops made with my Stampin' Up! corner rounder and I couldn't resist using it on the edges of this little cutie!

I used the three flower stamp from One of a Kind and inked it up with my stampin write markers. You know the stamp....the one that coordinates with the Boho Blossom punch. And all of you know what I do with that punch, don't you? If you come to my classes...then you already know. If you haven't been to my classes or haven't been lately then I will let you in on a little tip. This is from my fingertips (typing) to your eyes.......

Any time I am working on a project and have small scraps of card stock left over, that couldn't be used for ANYthing else....cause you all know how I am with saving my stuff...it kills me to throw it away.......I punch out small flowers with my Three For You punch or my Boho Blossom punch (I even sometimes punch out with the photo corners punch) and keep a cute jar right by my desk full of 'em. It makes it so easy when I need a little pop of color on something to just dump out my "pretties" jar and pick something. This is probably not too much of a time saver, per say, but it is a money saver. And I could use that money to buy more goodies to work with. i luv goodies!!!!!!!

Any way...I hope you look at your scraps in a different light now. Punch 'em before tossing 'em! LOL!

Oh yeah.....On a side note. you will have me back now. I finally got my submissions for the Artisian Award done. I promise to post more often. Don't forget...I don't have the "union" protecting my lunch breaks anymore...... :( Everyone else that I talk to...their kiddos take these incredibly long naps and they can do anything while they are sleeping. Not mine...she has never been a kid that required a lot of sleep. If I knew then (when she was a tiny baby) what I know now....I would have been able to foresee this no napping very early. She, at a very young age, could go on a 15-20 minute nap. Which made me pretty happy at the time....not very often did I have to say "She's so fussy because she is tired...." I just had to say..."I don't know why she is fussing...." LOL! So anyway...you probably don't give a hoot about my "lunch break" so I will run.... Speaking of that..she is calling for me (in her usual perky self in the morning)...."Hey mommy.....can you come in here?...Mommy...." ( I can tell you she didn't get her morning perkiness from me!!!! hehehe!) So I better run!

Wonder where I've been all week?????

Well..sorry to all of my blog readers.....I have been a bad blogger! I haven't posted a single project this week. Please believe me...I have been working on good stuff....I just can't show it yet.

I have also been getting ready for the Birthday Card Camp this Sunday...cutting...measuring....sorting....bagging.....you get the picture, right? I like to give each person a complete packet of supplies when they come to a camp and that does require some time. Don't get me wrong...I'm not whining! I prefer to do it this way. It would be less time consuming to stack stuff on a table but I think it is much better to be handed out in packet form then each person gets their own stuff. Don't you agree?

Well..enough about me!
